There is a specific noise a person makes in the last third of a hard session. It is not a word. It is the air leaving you when the effort stops being theoretical. Everyone who trains has made it, and nobody has ever been proud of it.
The joke is not that it hurts. The joke is that you booked it.
That is the whole brief. Not motivational, not tough-guy, not a wall of hashtags across your chest. A short line, set small, that means nothing to the person behind you in the coffee queue and quite a lot to the one who did the same session on Tuesday.
So the designs are typographic and deliberately quiet. Most of them are two or three words. Some are stitched in black thread, some printed; the stitched ones exist because thread does not crack in the wash, and because the physical limits of embroidery force the restraint we wanted anyway: you cannot fit a paragraph on a chest at 3.5 inches, so we do not try.
